Frequently asked questions

What details should I include in my first catering inquiry?+

Provide the event date, complete address or city, estimated guest count, event type, requested meal time, preferred menu or service style, dietary needs, rental or floral interests, and approximate budget. Your plans do not need to be final; realistic estimates are enough to begin.

Can you quote an event before the attendance is finalized?+

Yes. Use your best current guest estimate. The proposal can be revised as the count becomes clearer, although significant changes may affect food quantities, staffing, rentals, equipment, setup time, and the total price.

How quickly will the team respond to my request?+

The team aims to respond promptly during published business hours, and many complete quote requests receive a same-day response. Timing may vary with inquiry volume and event complexity. Including the date, address, guest count, service type, and budget helps reduce follow-up questions.

Does submitting the form hold my event date?+

No. An inquiry, phone call, or preliminary proposal does not reserve the date. The event becomes confirmed only after the required checkout or approved quote, signed catering agreement, and applicable deposit requirements have been completed.

Where is Winslow's Catering based?+

Our commercial kitchen and primary operations are based in Pleasanton, California, and we provide mobile catering throughout the Bay Area. Winslow's Catering Concord regularly considers events in Concord and nearby communities, bringing the food, staff, rentals, and selected services directly to the client's office, home, or venue.

Which nearby cities can request service through the Concord website?+

We evaluate events in Concord and surrounding communities, including Pleasant Hill, Orinda, Benicia, and Lafayette, based on the date, complete address, order size, and service requirements. Submit the exact location so delivery time, staffing, parking, loading, and access can be confirmed rather than assumed from the city name.

What minimums apply to the different catering formats?+

Most drop-off catering orders require a $400 food minimum. Boxed meals generally require at least 25 boxes per selected meal or menu. Most full-service and wedding packages begin at 25 guests, although requirements may vary by package, date, season, and scope.

How far ahead should I contact you?+

All catering requires at least 72 hours of notice. Smaller drop-off and corporate orders are often planned five to 14 days ahead, while larger staffed events are best requested one to two months in advance. Weekends and peak months should be submitted earlier whenever possible.

How do drop-off, attendant-assisted, and full-service catering differ?+

Drop-off provides prepared food ready for your group to serve. Attendant-assisted catering adds staff for selected setup, monitoring, replenishment, or cleanup tasks. Full service provides a broader on-site team for professional presentation, guest service, and breakdown, making it well suited to weddings, formal dinners, and larger celebrations.

What is the best way to report allergies and dietary requests?+

List the exact number of vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, or other special meals needed. For an allergy, identify the specific allergen and number of affected guests. This is more useful than a general statement that dietary accommodations are required.

Can the contact form be used for a wedding inquiry?+

Yes. Include the wedding date, venue or city, estimated attendance, and whether you are considering buffet, family-style, or plated service. Mention any interest in tastings, appetizers, cake service, bartenders, rentals, florals, coffee and tea, and venue coordination.

Are mobile tastings available for weddings or larger events?+

Yes. Mobile tastings are complimentary for confirmed wedding bookings and may be purchased before a contract is signed. Once you have narrowed the menu, contact the team to choose a focused selection and arrange the tasting.

Do you provide corporate catering and recurring office meals?+

Yes. Corporate service may include breakfast, lunch, appetizer receptions, boxed meals, trainings, client events, holiday parties, and fully staffed dinners. Weekly or monthly boxed-meal schedules may qualify for a dedicated coordinator and locked pricing.

Can you prepare separate boxed meals for meetings or employee shifts?+

Yes. Boxed breakfast, lunch, and dinner options can support meetings, off-sites, conferences, and employees who eat at different times. Provide the box count, meal period, dietary quantities, labeling needs, delivery time, and each requested address.

Can one proposal include food, bar staff, rentals, and flowers?+

Yes. A custom proposal may combine catering, bartenders, guest tables, chairs, linens, china, glassware, buffet equipment, centerpieces, installations, and tablescape styling. Alcohol itself must be supplied by the client or venue when bartenders are hired.

Can you cater at an office or venue without a kitchen?+

Yes. Most food is prepared before arrival, so a commercial kitchen is not required. A protected staging area is still helpful, and the team may need access to water, electricity, refrigeration, or another back-of-house space depending on the menu and service plan.

What building or venue-access information should I share?+

Tell us about parking, loading zones, reception or security procedures, access codes, suite numbers, elevators, stairs, long carries, setup windows, and firm departure times. These details are especially important for office towers, private estates, public facilities, and venues with restricted loading.

Can you suggest options that fit a specific budget?+

Yes. Share a realistic food budget or total-event budget. The team can recommend menu and service formats within that target and explain how delivery, staffing, rentals, florals, beverages, and other additions affect the final cost.

What is required to officially book the event?+

Once you approve the quote, a catering agreement is sent for signature. Orders totaling more than $3,000 also require a 50% deposit to reserve the date. The remaining balance is due 10 days before the event unless the agreement specifies otherwise.

Can the menu or guest count be changed after booking?+

Yes. Menu and guest-count updates are welcome through the final deadline, generally 10 days before the event. Later requests are not guaranteed because ingredients, staffing, rentals, and production plans may already have been committed.
